We are an overwhelming majority of journalists at the Orlando Sentinel who seek to defend our newsroom and Central Florida’s access to quality local journalism by forming a union. We are asking Tribune Publishing to voluntarily recognize the Sentinel Guild. We seek fair compensation and benefits, a healthy work-life balance and the opportunity to grow professionally.

A strong collective voice
We are very concerned about the potential takeover of Alden Global Capital and presently have no say in what sweeping changes could be enacted without notice. We are prepared to defend our newsroom with this union and advocate for ourselves.
A healthy work-life balance
We seek the flexibility to work remotely while fulfilling our job duties. No one should have to choose between maintaining a career or focusing on loved ones. We also seek to foster a diverse newsroom that reflects our community.
Better pay, better benefits
There is no wage system right now — raises are sporadic. Without a contract, there is nothing preventing Tribune from cutting salaries across the newsroom. We seek a fair pay scale that reflects the increasing cost of living in Central Florida.
